EFCC officers to face disciplinary panel for alleged assault on woman

AGS NEWS – The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has established a disciplinary panel to investigate two operatives accused of assaulting a woman during a raid at a hotel in Lagos on Thursday.

EFCC Spokesman Dele Oyewale announced in a Monday statement in Abuja that the accused officers were scheduled to appear before the panel the same day.

According to Oyewale, EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede initiated the disciplinary team to investigate the case involving the alleged assault of a female staff member at Regional Hotel in Ojo, Lagos.

The officers were seen in a viral video assaulting the hotel staff during an early morning operation on Thursday.

Olukoyede ordered the arrest of the officers and directed them to appear before a joint disciplinary team comprising the Appointment, Promotion, and Disciplinary Committee (APDC) and the Department of Ethics and Integrity.

The officers are expected to appear before the panel on Monday, July 1, at the Commission’s Corporate Headquarters in Abuja. The team will review the case and recommend appropriate disciplinary actions.

Olukoyede emphasized that the EFCC will ensure the officers are held accountable for their unprofessional conduct.
