AGS NEWS – A 19-year-old woman has been apprehended for allegedly collaborating with her boyfriend in the kidnapping of an elderly man in Edo State.

Presenting the suspect to journalists, Edo State Commissioner of Police, CP Funsho Adegboye, explained that the young woman, who identified herself as a university student, accompanied other gang members to the pastor’s residence.

She deceived him by pretending to be in distress, claiming to be the wife of a church member and requesting his help to open the gate.

“She was crying and pleaded with the pastor to open the gate, claiming to be the wife of a church member.

This was the lie she told the pastor. Once the pastor opened the door, other members of the kidnapping gang took him at gunpoint and abducted him,” CP Adegboye stated.

The Commissioner urged parents to monitor their children closely, emphasizing the importance of vigilance over their activities and friendships.

“She witnessed one of the suspects handing the gun to her boyfriend. She admitted that her boyfriend persuaded her to participate in this criminal act.

It’s regrettable that a 19-year-old girl got involved in this. People need to exercise caution,” he added.

During interrogation, the suspect denied knowledge of the crime, claiming she was coerced into participating in the criminal activity.
