AGS NEWS – Operatives of the Yobe State Police Command have arrested Haruna Mohammed, a notorious gang leader responsible for terrorizing towns, villages, and neighboring states.
According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, Mohammed was arrested on June 16, 2024, for criminal conspiracy, intimidation, demanding with menace, and gang activities.
The suspect specialized in extorting money and valuables from victims through threatening phone calls.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Garba Ahmed, emphasized that there is no safe haven for criminals in Yobe State, praising the arrest as a significant success in the fight against crime.

Haruna Mohammed, a 40-year-old resident of Lantewa Village in Tarmuwa LGA, was apprehended by the State Intelligence Department (SID).
He had been tracked for his involvement in terrorizing various areas, and a specific incident involved a demand for N3,000,000 from a victim in Siminti Village, under threat of death.
During an intensive operation, SID detectives arrested Mohammed in Nangillam Village.
He confessed to the crime and implicated other syndicate members, who are now being pursued by the police.
The Commissioner of Police urged communities to report any criminal activities and assured that the police would provide strong resistance against any criminal tendencies, calling for public support to maintain security in the state.
