As the Salah celebrations approach, Asagbra stressed the importance of prioritizing community health and safety.
She explained that cholera is a highly contagious bacterial infection caused by consuming contaminated food or water.
The NBMA, in collaboration with health authorities, is actively monitoring the situation and taking measures to contain the spread.
To prevent infection, Asagbra advised Nigerians to practice good hygiene, such as boiling drinking water or using certified water purification methods, washing hands thoroughly with soap and water before eating or preparing food, and after using the toilet.
She also recommended cooking food thoroughly and consuming it while hot, and avoiding raw foods unless they can be peeled or washed with safe water.
Maintaining a clean environment and proper waste disposal are also essential to prevent contamination.
The NBMA urged all Nigerians to be vigilant and follow these hygiene practices to protect themselves and their families from cholera.
