AGS NEWS – Human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, believes that both the Federal and State governments can afford to pay the national minimum wage if stolen funds are recovered.
Speaking on Channels TV, Falana stated, “The state governments that claim they have no money to pay actually have the funds.
Both the Federal and State governments need to gather the political will to collect and recover money either looted or withheld from the federation account.”

It’s worth noting that organized labor and the federal government have yet to reach an agreement on the new minimum wage, with the government rejecting labor’s proposed N62,000.
In the latest meeting held by the Tripartite Committee on the New Minimum Wage in Abuja, labor reduced its demand from N494,000 to N250,000, while the Federal Government slightly increased its offer from N60,000 to N62,000.
The final decision on the proposed minimum wage may be delayed until July 2, as the National Assembly is currently in recess.
