Fake military officer detained for impersonation in Ogun state

AGS NEWS – A 43-year-old man, Muhammed Auwalu, has been arrested by the Ogun Police Command for impersonating a military officer in Ogere, Ikenne Local Government Area.

Auwalu was detained on Wednesday, May 29, by the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team from the Ogere Police Division during a patrol.

Auwalu was found wearing military camouflage and carrying an identity card that falsely identified him as a serving naval officer deployed to Port Harcourt.

During interrogation by military personnel, he admitted that he was not a trained Nigerian Navy officer.

He revealed that he bought the uniform for N10,000 and the identity card for N5,000 from an individual named Umaru in the Ojodu-Berger area of Lagos.

Ogun Police Command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the arrest and stated that a thorough investigation is underway.

Auwalu remains in detention as the investigation continues. “The military imposter was intercepted by SWAT operatives during a patrol within the Ogere area. A discreet investigation is ongoing,” Odutola said.
