AGS NEWS – A female pedestrian was killed by a speeding driver along the Awka-Onitsha Expressway in Anambra on Friday night, May 31, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in the state.

Mr. Adeoye Irelewuyi, Commander of the FRSC in Anambra, reported on Saturday, June 1, that the driver fled the scene following the incident.

The crash involved a Toyota Hiace commercial bus without a registration number, heading towards Upper Iweke, Onitsha.

Eyewitnesses indicated that the speeding driver hit the woman and then drove off.

The FRSC rescue team arrived at the scene and transported the victim to Toronto Mortuary, where she was pronounced dead by a doctor.

Irelewuyi extended condolences to the victim’s family and urged motorists to adhere to speed limits, especially during the rainy season, to prevent such tragedies.
