AGS NEWS – Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has revoked civil service positions previously approved by his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.
Fubara announced the decision on Friday, May 31, stating that the beneficiaries of the jobs were appointed for political reasons.
He emphasized the need for a transparent recruitment process, citing concerns over the age and suitability of many candidates.

Fubara explained, “When we scrutinized the list of beneficiaries, we found that a significant portion, about 60%, were over-aged and likely chosen for political patronage.
We need to focus on employment opportunities for the future.” He questioned the logic of hiring individuals in their 50s for civil service roles, considering their limited years of service before retirement.
