FG halts enforcement of $300 helicopter landing levy

AGS NEWS – After a meeting with the Airline Operators of Nigeria executives, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has temporarily halted the collection of helicopter landing levies at aerodromes, helipads, and airstrips.

This decision was announced in a statement by the Head of Press, Odutayo Oluseyi, on Friday, effective from May 30, 2024.

Previously, the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development had mandated a new $300 landing charge for helicopter operators, to be collected by NAEBI Dynamic Concept Limited on behalf of the Federal Government.

Concerns were raised by petroleum labor unions that the levy might disrupt the operations of the oil and gas industry.

In response, Keyamo formed a committee including members from the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, its relevant agencies, Airline Operators of Nigeria, International Oil Companies, and NAEBI Dynamic Concept Ltd.

The committee is tasked with addressing stakeholders’ concerns and will submit a report by the end of June.
