AGS NEWS – APM Terminals Apapa has partnered with the Ocean Ambassadors Foundation (OAF) to educate secondary school students about career opportunities in the maritime industry.
This initiative was announced in a statement on Sunday to commemorate the 2024 Children’s Day celebration.
Frederik Klinke, CEO of APM Terminals Nigeria, emphasized the importance of developing future maritime professionals and noted the Federal Government’s focus on the maritime sector.

He highlighted the creation of a national policy on the Marine and Blue Economy as evidence of the government’s commitment to supporting the sector’s growth.
“As a responsible organization, we aim to support the government’s initiative by training the next generation of maritime professionals to ensure this sector contributes efficiently to the national economy,” Klinke said.
He added that collaboration among industry stakeholders would accelerate the development of the maritime sector and enhance the country’s economy.
Steen Knudsen, Terminal Manager of APM Terminals Apapa, described the collaboration as a way of giving back to society. “This is one of the many ways we engage in CSR projects at all levels of government,” he said.
Omolara Olatunbosun, Senior People Business Partner at APM Terminals Apapa, highlighted the program’s focus on encouraging female participation in the maritime industry. “This program is focused on the girl child.
We support the growth of women in the industry through our mentoring program for female employees,” she said.
Olatunbosun also mentioned that the terminal has recruited women into roles traditionally held by men, aiming to inspire more girls to pursue careers in the maritime sector.
