Tinubu allocates N90 billion for 2024 Hajj subsidy – Shettima


AGS NEWS – Vice-President Kashim Shettima has disclosed that President Bola Tinubu has sanctioned N90 billion to subsidize the expenses of the 2024 hajj pilgrimage.

Addressing attendees at the 2024 inaugural hajj airlift in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday, May 15, Shettima emphasized Tinubu’s commitment to supporting religious pilgrimages, highlighting their role in fostering positive societal changes beyond the hajj journey.

Shettima mentioned the challenges faced in determining the final hajj fare for 2024 due to currency fluctuations but praised Tinubu’s efforts in stabilizing the local currency, resulting in reduced fares.

He noted Tinubu’s approval of N90 billion for pilgrimage subsidy this year, underscoring the government’s meticulous selection of competent individuals to manage the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria for the benefit of Nigerian pilgrims.

Shettima assured of the government’s vigilant oversight of arrangements for pilgrims’ welfare, both in Saudi Arabia and domestically.

He expressed confidence in the safety, security, and comfort provisions for Nigerian pilgrims, calling for collective prayers and contributions for the country’s prosperity.
