AGS NEWS – The Department of State Services (DSS) made a bold move by invading an Ogun State High Court in Ilaro, defying the judge’s instructions, and apprehending two defendants.
Presiding over the court session was Justice AA Shobayo on Tuesday, where the defendants, identified as Alhaji Isiaka Fatai and Samuel Oyero, were being tried in a suit marked HCP/IC/2023 between the State and Awode Oladosu & 13 others.
The case stemmed from a recent crisis in the Agosasa community, Ipokia Local Government Area, over an Obaship dispute, resulting in significant property damage and loss of life.

During the ongoing hearing, DSS operatives stormed the court premises, forcibly taking away the suspects.
Kehinde Bamiwola, counsel to Alhaji Isiaka, alleged in a statement to Daily Trust that the DSS agents deployed force, including physical assault, against the defendants.
The Principal Registrar of the High Court and Sectional Head of High Court, Ilaro, Omololu Olusanya, corroborated Bamiwola’s account, condemning the incident as a blatant disregard for the rule of law.
He recounted how despite the judge’s directive against arrests within the court premises, the DSS operatives proceeded with the arrests, even assaulting court staff in the process.

Despite attempts to reach the DSS spokesman, Peter Afunanya, for comment, there was no response at the time of reporting.
