Imo police arrest 14 suspected cultists

AGS NEWS – The Imo State Police Command has apprehended fourteen individuals suspected of belonging to the Black-Axe confraternity, following their involvement in cult-related activities on May 6.

According to ASP Henry Okoye, the spokesperson for the command, the arrest of these suspects followed an intelligence-led raid on a suspected criminal hideout in Irete, Owerri West LGA of Imo State.

The raid was conducted by operatives during routine confidence-building patrols.

Recovered from the suspects were a locally made single-barrel pistol, two rounds of live cartridges, and other incriminating items.

The suspects are currently held in police custody, where a thorough investigation has been initiated to identify other gang members, as well as the manufacturer and sellers of the locally made firearm.

They will be brought before the court once the investigation is completed.

The Imo State Commissioner of Police has reassured residents of the state that the Command remains dedicated to eradicating cultism and other criminal activities.

He advises parents and guardians to caution their children against involvement in such illicit activities.
