Tragic! Nigerian man who relocated to UK in 2022 beat wife to death with skateboard

AGS NEWS – A Nigerian man residing in the United Kingdom, Olubunmi Abodunde, has confessed to fatally beating his wife, Taiwo, with their son’s skateboard, according to a report by the Daily Mail.

The couple, who migrated from Nigeria to the UK in 2022, had a history of conflicts revolving around alleged extramarital affairs and disagreements over finances.

Abodunde, aged 48, had been the subject of multiple investigations by Suffolk Police regarding domestic violence. Despite being set to face trial for murder, he changed his plea to guilty after the jury had been sworn in.

Reports suggest that during one instance of abuse, police responding to the scene heard disturbing sounds from inside the house, despite Abodunde being prohibited from entering the property due to bail conditions imposed following a previous violent incident.

Upon entering the house approximately 25 minutes later, officers discovered Taiwo, aged 41, with severe head injuries, indicating that she had been fatally assaulted.

The court, presided over by Judge Martyn Levett at Ipswich Crown Court, informed Abodunde that he faced a probable life sentence for the crime.

Following the incident, Suffolk Constabulary has initiated an internal investigation and referred itself to the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC). Three officers are under scrutiny for potential misconduct.

Abodunde had a history of jealousy and had previously accused his wife of infidelity. He had been previously arrested for alleged domestic violence incidents.

During the trial, it was revealed that Taiwo had been strangled unconscious and then fatally attacked with the skateboard.

Abodunde claimed self-defense, alleging prior physical abuse from his wife, but no evidence of such violence was found.
