Opalola explained that the arrest of the suspects stemmed from a report filed by the woman’s son at the Apomu Police Division in Osun after his mother went missing.
According to the police spokesperson, the complainant stated that his mother, Usman Aminat, left home on March 13 to visit Onifade Oyekanmi in Iyana Ajia, Ibadan.
Since her departure, her phones were switched off, and her whereabouts remained unknown. The complainant suspected Oyekanmi, an herbalist, was involved in his mother’s disappearance.
Upon Oyekanmi’s arrest, he confessed, leading to the apprehension of three additional suspects. All suspects admitted to their involvement and disclosed their roles in the plan to use the victim for money rituals.
During a search of the suspects’ residences, authorities discovered three bottles containing a black substance suspected to be burnt human parts, along with other incriminating items.
A female neighbor who assisted one of the suspects in concealing evidence was arrested but later released on administrative bail due to nursing a four-month-old baby.
