AGS NEWS – In a viral video circulating on Thursday, a group of armed bandits expressed their willingness to engage in peace talks with Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal.
The leader of the bandits, Garba Habeeb, made the appeal for negotiation, emphasizing the need for peaceful coexistence in the state.
Habeeb urged Governor Lawal to consider the benefits of resolving conflicts through dialogue, citing the example of ongoing peace efforts in Eastern Africa.

He also addressed military actions against bandits and highlighted incidents involving vigilante groups, calling for a peaceful resolution.
Efforts to reach the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris, for comment were unsuccessful.
The bandits’ call for peace follows previous demands by armed groups in Zamfara, including an end to extrajudicial killings and the assurance of safety for nomadic herders.

Governor Lawal recently appealed for increased military presence in response to escalating insecurity in the state.
During a visit to the Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, Lawal emphasized the need for additional troops and weaponry to address security challenges.
