AGS NEWS – The three University of Calabar (UNICAL) students who were kidnapped two weeks ago have been freed.
Gunmen had abducted them from the Freedom Hostel, owned by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), on Friday night, March 29, 2024.

According to a statement from the university’s Public Relations Officer, Effiong Eyo, the students—Ojang Precious Ebejin, Ugwu Chukwuemeka, and Damilola Dickson—were released unharmed and reunited with their families.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Florence Obi, expressed gratitude to the state’s security agencies for their collaboration, which led to the students’ release.

Prof. Obi also thanked the students’ parents for their support and cooperation during the ordeal. She advised students to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to campus security promptly.
