Nigerian airforce cadet dies in Abia hotel pool drowning

AGS NEWS – A Nigerian Air Force Tarmac Four cadet tragically drowned in a well-known hotel’s swimming pool in Umuahia, the capital of Abia state.

The victim, identified as CDT Emmanuel Chidiebere Onyeomereneche, with registration number NDA 13257, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, just a few months shy of his graduation from the National Defence Academy.

Reports indicate that the cadet was at the hotel with friends when he decided to take a swim in the pool, leading to the unfortunate incident.

According to an anonymous source, the cadet vanished from the surface of the pool around 6:37 pm on Tuesday.

His lifeless body was later discovered by members of the state fire service, who confirmed his demise at the Federal Medical Centre Umuahia.

ASP Maureen Chinaka, spokesperson for the State Police Command, confirmed the incident on Friday, stating that investigations are underway.
