AGS NEWS – The Federal Government attributed the recent drop in Nigeria’s crude oil production to challenges encountered on the Trans Niger Pipeline and maintenance activities by oil companies.
However, it assured that efforts were underway to address these issues and restore production to previous levels, potentially reaching up to 1.7 million barrels per day.

The Trans Niger Pipeline, a crucial part of Nigeria’s oil infrastructure, has faced difficulties in recent years.
Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Heineken Lokpobiri, confirmed the pipeline issues and stated that steps had been taken to resolve them, with production expected to rebound soon.
Despite the recent decline, OPEC data showed that Nigeria’s first-quarter oil output in 2024 was higher than in the previous quarter.

Lokpobiri expressed optimism about restoring production levels and highlighted ongoing policy efforts to optimize oil well utilization, aiming to boost revenue for infrastructure development and economic stability.
