AGS NEWS – TikTok is gearing up to compete with Instagram by introducing a new photo-sharing app, the company announced. This move comes as part of TikTok’s efforts to create a dedicated space for images and text.
Users have been notified that their photo posts will soon be shared on a new app called “TikTok Notes” unless they opt out.

This follows a trend of social media platforms copying each other’s features, with Instagram introducing Reels, a TikTok-like video tool, in 2020.
Mike Proulx, a research director at Forrester, noted that while copycat features can be successful, there’s no guarantee of success.
For instance, Twitter’s attempt to replicate Snapchat’s features ended in failure.
TikTok has not finalized the design or release date of the Notes app, but screenshots of notifications suggest that it will allow users to upload or share photo posts similar to those on the TikTok app.
Social media consultant Matt Navarra believes that while a text or photo app might engage more “lurkers” on TikTok, there may not be a strong demand for another photo-sharing app.
However, TikTok’s move to launch Notes could be strategic amid regulatory scrutiny and competition.

Mike Proulx suggests that TikTok should focus on creating a compelling user experience to differentiate itself from competitors in the crowded social media landscape.
