AGS NEWS – The Labour Party leadership cautioned the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) against attempting to take over its political platform, stating that it lacked the authority to remove Julius Abure and the National Working Committee (NWC).
This warning came in response to a resolution made by the NLC Political Commission during a stakeholders meeting in Abuja on Monday.

The NLC declared the voidance of the national convention that re-elected Abure and his NWC members, proposing to establish a transition committee to manage party affairs until new officers are elected within three months.
The NLC also called for a forensic audit of the Labour Party following allegations of corruption, forgery, and fraud, as demanded by its presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
In a statement issued by the Labour Party’s National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, titled ‘NLC, cohorts lack powers to sack legitimate leadership of Labour Party,’ the party rebuffed the NLC’s actions.
Ifoh criticized the stakeholder’s meeting as an unauthorized gathering of dissident former party members and non-members, accusing them of being influenced by Comrade Joe Ajaero’s political ambitions for 2027.
