Bobrisky faces possibility of spending Eid-il-Fitri holiday in custody

AGS NEWS – Controversial figure Bobrisky, also known as Okuneye Idris, faces the possibility of spending the Eid-il-Fitri break in custody after being convicted by a Federal High Court in Lagos.

The arrest and subsequent conviction came after Bobrisky pleaded guilty to charges of naira abuse filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The charges included allegations of money laundering.

The EFCC had filed a six-count charge against Bobrisky, with the first four counts related to naira abuse.

During the court proceedings, Bobrisky pleaded guilty to the charges but requested leniency, stating that he was not aware of the laws regarding naira abuse and vowed to educate his social media followers about it.

Justice Abimbola Awogboro scheduled April 9, 2024, for Bobrisky’s sentencing and ordered that he be held in EFCC custody until then.

However, with the Federal Government declaring April 9 and 10 as public holidays for Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, it’s likely that Bobrisky will remain in custody during the holiday period unless the court decides otherwise.
