NGE urges governments to tackle security challenges

AGS NEWS – The Nigerian Guild of Editors has issued a call for the government to increase efforts in tackling the nation’s growing security issues.

In a statement released after a meeting in Enugu, the Guild commended recent efforts leading to the release of kidnapped students in Kaduna State but also expressed concern over the abduction of a newspaper editor in Lagos.

They emphasized the importance of upholding press freedom and urged thorough investigation into security incidents, such as the recent killing of military personnel in Delta State.

The Guild highlighted economic challenges exacerbated by security concerns and urged long-term solutions to ease the burden on citizens.

They praised the resilience of the media in challenging times but urged journalists to report responsibly in the current security climate.
