AGS NEWS – Roland Osaji Takon, a student at the University of Calabar, has achieved a remarkable feat by graduating as the overall best student with first-class honours in History.
Takon was honored with a generous cash prize of One Million Naira for his outstanding academic performance.
During the 36th Convocation Ceremony, Takon stood out among the 10,117 graduating students from the university.

Prof. Florence Obi, the Vice-Chancellor, announced Takon’s achievement, highlighting his exceptional academic record.
Takon, a student in the Department of History and International Studies, obtained an impressive Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.85 out of 5, earning him the prestigious title of valedictorian and the recipient of the N1,000,000 SUG Prize for the Overall Best First-Class Graduate.
Prof. Obi further disclosed that out of the 9,722 Bachelor’s degrees awarded, 46 students attained First-Class Honours, with Takon being one of them.

1,482 individuals received higher degrees and diplomas at the Post-Graduate level, demonstrating a significant improvement in the graduation rate compared to previous years.
