AGS NEWS – The Ministry of Solid Mineral Development has enlisted 2,220 security personnel under a new security framework to crackdown on illegal mining and uphold the nation’s mining laws.
Minister Dele Alake emphasized the importance of securing mining sites to maximize the country’s mineral resources.

The “Mining Marshal Corps,” drawn from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, will be stationed across all states and the FCT to ensure security, eliminate illegal activities, and enhance revenue generation from mining.
The initiative is part of the government’s efforts to bolster security in the mineral sector and increase its contribution to the GDP.

Commandant-General Abubakar Audi highlighted the marshals’ mandate to protect national assets and infrastructure, particularly in solid minerals.
