MMA customs generates N28 billion revenue in two months

AGS NEWS – The Nigeria Customs Service at Murtala Muhammed Airport Command has announced a significant revenue achievement, totaling N28 billion between January and February.

Victor Ogagbor, the command’s Public Relations Officer, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.

Mohammed Yusuf, the Customs Area Controller overseeing the command, expressed satisfaction with the revenue figure, stating that it surpassed the command’s monthly target.

He attributed this success to the collaborative efforts and compliance from both officers and stakeholders, emphasizing the need to maintain this momentum.

Providing further insights into the revenue performance, Yusuf revealed that the command’s expected target for the two months was N23.9 billion.

However, they exceeded expectations by generating N28.9 billion, marking a notable 20% growth.

Yusuf highlighted the command’s anti-smuggling efforts during this period, citing the interception of 50 pieces of 9mm live ammunition in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, leading to the arrest of two suspects pending further investigation.

Significant interceptions were made in wildlife trafficking, including 1,164kg of sea cucumbers and 58kg of Donkey Genitals.
