LASTMA arrest 123 vehicles, alongside 19 hoodlums

AGS NEWS – The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has taken decisive action against illegal parking around bridges across Lagos Island, announcing the impoundment of 123 vehicles.

The revelation came through a statement issued on Wednesday by Mr. Adebayo Taofiq, Director of the Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA, quoting General Manager Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki.

Bakare-Oki stated that the impoundment was part of a broader enforcement operation aimed at alleviating traffic congestion throughout the state.

The enforcement effort, led by Bakare-Oki and a combined team of security operatives, was carried out under the directive of Mr. Sola Giwa, Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation.

The crackdown follows numerous warnings to both private and commercial bus drivers to cease indiscriminate parking and illegal garages around bridges.

The impounded vehicles were found around key areas including Ebute-Ero by Idumota Bridge, Apongbon under Bridge, Simpson Bridge, and Elegbata area of Lagos Island.
