AGS NEWS – Authorities in eastern India have arrested three individuals in connection with the reported gang rape of a foreign tourist and the assault of her husband.

Law enforcement is actively pursuing four additional suspects linked to the case.

The incident unfolded when a couple, embarking on a global motorcycle journey, disclosed that upon reaching India, they were attacked by a group of seven men who subjected the woman to gang rape and assaulted her husband.

The victims, who had been traveling from West Bengal to Nepal, were discovered by police officers on patrol late Friday, March 1, according to Pitambar Singh Kherwar, superintendent of Dumka district police in Jharkhand state.

Following their rescue, the couple was transported to a hospital, where the woman reported the sexual assault to medical staff.

Superintendent Kherwar revealed that law enforcement has identified the wanted suspects and established a specialized investigative team to pursue the case.

India’s National Commission for Women (NCW) denounced the alleged assault on the traveling couple.
