Biden and Trump visit US-Mexico border amid immigration crisis

AGS NEWS – US President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump embarked on separate visits to the US-Mexico border in Texas on Thursday, February 29.

Addressing border patrol agents and law enforcement officials in Brownsville, Texas, along the US-Mexico border, Biden criticized Republicans for obstructing a Senate bill aimed at allocating billions of dollars for border security.

Biden urged Congress, particularly Republicans, to show courage and support the bipartisan security bill that recently stalled after Trump urged GOP allies not to advance it.

In response to Trump’s presence at Eagle Pass, Biden suggested cooperation rather than political gamesmanship to address border security issues.

Meanwhile, Trump laid blame on Biden for the surge in illegal crossings, dubbing it a “Joe Biden invasion” during his visit to Eagle Pass.

Trump warned of potentially millions of border crossings by the time of Biden’s inauguration and accused Biden of being responsible for the consequences of migrant-related crimes.
