AGS NEWS – The Nigerian Institution of Safety Engineers has pledged collaboration with the government to tackle the issue of building collapses in Nigeria.
Seun Faluyi, the newly-appointed Chairman of the Institution, made this commitment during his inauguration ceremony in Lagos State on Thursday.
Faluyi emphasized the importance of advocating for safety practices among Nigerians, stressing the need for individuals to prioritize safety in all their endeavors.
He cautioned against compromising safety standards due to the increasing costs of construction materials, highlighting the potential risks to both lives and finances.

Addressing the prevalent lack of awareness regarding safety measures, Faluyi underscored the collective responsibility of both citizens and the government in ensuring safety.
He urged for heightened awareness campaigns to educate people about their roles in upholding safety standards.
Faluyi emphasized the significance of integrating safety considerations into architectural and engineering designs to prevent future disasters.
During the investiture ceremony, prominent figures including Oba Otudeko, Dr. Vincent Ebuh, and Margaret Oguntala emphasized the imperative of prioritizing safety across all spheres of life.
Adeyemi Adetunji, the guest lecturer at the event, highlighted the holistic nature of safety engineering, emphasizing its role in minimizing losses.
He lamented the recurrence of building collapses due to the neglect of established safety protocols.
Adetunji urged safety engineers to intensify efforts in mitigating risks and preventing future tragedies.
Seun Faluyi, the newly appointed Chairman, is currently serving as the Director of Projects for Pivot GIS and has extensive experience in the oil and gas industry.
