AGS NEWS – The Lagos State Police Command has made a breakthrough in its fight against crime, as operatives successfully apprehended eight suspected armed robbers who were on the police’s wanted list.

According to a statement released by SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the command, the suspects, believed to be members of two criminal syndicates, were captured following weeks of covert and rigorous investigation.

Hundeyin revealed that the arrested individuals specialize in robbing residents of Lagos and forcibly seizing vehicles at gunpoint.

Some suspects were apprehended within Lagos State, while others were tracked down to Iwo in Osun State and Ibadan in Oyo State.

The suspects, ranging in age from 22 to 32 years old, are also allegedly linked to the murder of a police officer in the Iju Ishaga area of the state on December 9, 2023.

The police have recovered the rifle stolen from the slain officer during the initial arrests.

Items seized from the suspects include one pump-action rifle, five locally-made pistols, 30 live cartridges, and various charms believed to be used for criminal activities.
