Two men arrested for alleged murder of sex worker in Ekiti

AGS NEWS – In Ado-Ekiti, a Chief Magistrates’ Court ordered the remand of Saviour Daniel, 25, and David Isaiah, 25, in a correctional facility over the alleged murder of a commercial sex worker.

The defendants, whose addresses were unknown, faced charges of murder and conspiracy, as brought before the court by the prosecutor, Insp Olubu Apata.

The incidents were reported to have occurred in February 2024.

According to the prosecutor, the defendants allegedly murdered a woman identified as Comfort James, suspected to be a commercial sex worker.

It was alleged that after a negotiation in a brothel, the defendants took the victim to their residence where they refused to pay her and subsequently strangled her, leading to her death.

The prosecutor urged the court to remand the defendants until legal advice was obtained from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP). The defendants did not enter any pleas.

Chief Magistrate Mrs Kehinde Awosika ordered the remand of the defendants in a correctional facility pending legal advice, with the case adjourned until March 21 for further mention.

Additional details from AGS NEWS revealed that the victim, last seen on February 6 at her residence in Isato Street, Ado Ekiti, was reportedly picked up by Saviour Daniel from a brothel and did not return.

Following a complaint received by the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the suspects were apprehended, with investigations revealing a gruesome sequence of events including kidnapping, rape, murder, and extortion.
