Trump’s Lawyer: Ex-President confident to cover $35M bond in 30 days

AGS NEWS – Former US President Donald Trump’s attorney, Alina Habba, has stated that Trump possesses sufficient funds to meet the $35 million bond requirement within 30 days, following a ruling by Judge Arthur Engoron.

The judge’s decision, outlined in a 92-page order on Friday, pertains to a $355 million fraud verdict against Trump, criticizing his ‘complete lack of contrition and remorse.’

The mandated payments, including interest, total over $450 million, coming after another court ordered Trump to pay $83 million to E. Jean Carroll for defamation.

Despite Trump’s testimony claiming over $400 million in cash reserves, concerns linger over his ability to mobilize funds from his real estate holdings.

Habba affirmed to Fox News that regardless of any potential appeal, Trump’s legal team will comply with the bond requirement within the specified timeframe, which typically involves a 9% fee from bond agents as insurance.

AGS NEWS reports that Trump faces the challenge of securing the bond amidst additional court directives placing control of his company under an independent monitor and prohibiting him from managing any New York-based firm for three years.

Expressing criticism over the ruling, Habba denounced attempts to disrupt Trump’s business operations, emphasizing his resilience and financial stability.

However, she did not specify whether Trump would need to liquidate assets to fulfill the bond requirement.

Trump’s wealth, estimated to exceed $2 billion, is primarily tied up in complex real estate holdings and partnerships.

New York Attorney General Letitia James previously reported Trump’s liquid assets at $93 million as of 2020, while Trump claimed $400 million in cash during a deposition for a lawsuit brought by James.
