AGS NEWS – The Algeria Football Federation is reportedly considering hiring Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro as their next manager following the dismissal of Djamel Belmadi after a disappointing performance at the recent Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
Peseiro, who guided Nigeria to the final of the 34th edition of the AFCON in his debut, has emerged as a top candidate for the position.

Meanwhile, Belmadi’s team failed to advance from Group E, finishing at the bottom with just two points.
Algerian publication DZ Foot revealed that the president of the Algerian football federation, Walid Sadi, is impressed by Peseiro’s track record and is keen on discussing the possibility of him taking over as the national team’s coach.
While the final decision is yet to be announced, it’s understood that the federation’s shortlist comprises three names: José Peseiro, Vladimir Petkovic, and Carlos Queiroz.
Despite initial speculation around Queiroz, Peseiro has reportedly become Sadi’s preferred choice.
Algeria, who won the AFCON in 2019, faced a disappointing run in the 2021 and 2023 editions, failing to progress beyond the group stage and enduring a winless streak of six games in the competition.
