A nurse in Peru reportedly severed her boyfriend’s penis with a kitchen knife while he was asleep, following a heated argument over suspected infidelity.

Identified as Marleni Rimarachin Colunche, the healthcare worker allegedly carried out the violent attack on Iván Céspedes, her partner of four years.

Both aged 39, they worked at the same hospital, where Colunche took Céspedes after the incident.

Colunche purportedly claimed that Céspedes had self-inflicted the injuries, a statement he refuted despite his weakened state.

AGS NEWS reports that authorities in Chota, northern Peru, are investigating the matter, with Colunche granted bail to care for their three-month-old baby.

“We are awaiting the results of the investigation to determine the motive and circumstances of the events,” stated prosecutor Darinka Lossio regarding the incident.

According to police reports cited by local media, the altercation began after Céspedes returned home intoxicated, suspecting infidelity on his part. Colunche allegedly attacked him while he slept, driven by jealousy.

Medical sources revealed that Céspedes suffered a traumatic amputation and is receiving medical and psychiatric assistance.

Family members expressed outrage over the incident, demanding justice. Céspedes, a father of five, was transferred to Chiclayo health center and then to a hospital in Lima due to the severity of his injuries, where he is expected to undergo reconstructive surgery.
