Hoodlums disrupts Enugu South re-rerun election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has revealed that the re-run election in Enugu South 1 State Constituency was marred by the intervention of unidentified individuals.

In a tweet posted on its official handle on Wednesday, the commission confirmed the disruption, highlighting the destruction of election materials and the prevention of voters from exercising their franchise.

According to the tweet, “Reports from our Enugu State office indicate that hoodlums have disrupted the court-ordered re-run election in the Enugu South 1 State Constituency.

AGS NEWS reports that there have been no casualties, but election materials were destroyed, and voters were obstructed from casting their votes.”

Furthermore, INEC stated that its officials were safely evacuated with the assistance of security agencies in the area.

Meanwhile, the electoral body also provided an update on the supplementary election taking place in the Jalingo/Yorro/Zing Federal Constituency of Taraba State, noting that it is progressing peacefully across three Local Government Areas.
