Lagos State Police Command has brought charges against Bet Naija employee Bojuwoye Adetola and her associate Bunmi Dada for allegedly colluding to steal N16.7 million from a customer, Lukman Issa, who had placed a bet at their outlet in the Iddo area of Lagos State.
The defendants were arraigned on Monday before Magistrate F.F. George on charges of theft, as outlined by police prosecutor James Okosun.

It is alleged that Adetola and Dada, along with others currently at large, committed the offence between September 12 and 24, 2023, in the Iddo area of Lagos Island.
These actions contravene Sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.
According to the complainant, Issa, he had won N16.7 million from playing 36 games on September 12, but when he went to collect his winnings from Adetola at the Bet Naija shop, he was only promised N800,000 initially and has received no further payment since then.
Issa alleges that Adetola had been gradually taking the money and had conspired with her friends to withhold his winnings entirely.
The charges against the defendants state that they conspired to commit theft and subsequently stole the sum of N16,705,000 belonging to Lukman Issa between September 12 and 24, 2023, at the Iddo area of Lagos Island.

Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges and were granted bail in the sum of N500,000 each with two responsible sureties each in like sum by Magistrate George. The case has been adjourned until March 4, 2024, for further proceedings.
