Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced the allocation of N3.1 billion to support approximately 1,000 retirees who have diligently served the state under the Contributory Pension Scheme.
Taking to his official social media platform, the governor expressed gratitude for the retirees’ enduring commitment, emphasizing that their sacrifices have not gone unnoticed.

In his statement, Sanwo-Olu shared, “I’m pleased to announce a development that I believe will bring joy to many families.
Next week, we will be distributing N3.1 billion to over 1,000 retirees who have dedicated their lives to serving our beloved state.”
He underscored the administration’s track record of prioritizing pension disbursements, highlighting that over N60 billion has been disbursed to more than 17,000 retirees during his tenure, a milestone that fills the government with pride.
Acknowledging the retirees’ significant role in shaping Lagos, the governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to their welfare, emphasizing that honoring their contributions is integral to the state’s legacy.

Sanwo-Olu concluded by expressing appreciation for the retirees’ trust and pledged to continue building a more prosperous and caring Lagos in collaboration with them.
This recent disbursement follows a previous payment in August 2023, where the Lagos State Government allocated N2.017 billion in retirement benefits to 644 retirees.
This payment covered past service benefits predating the inception of the Contributory Pension Scheme in 2007.
