Ritualist beheads woman in Adamawa hotel

The Adamawa State Police Command has made arrests in connection with the beheading of a young lady, allegedly for ritual purposes, in a Yola hotel on Thursday evening.

The suspects include three hotel staff members on duty during the incident.

The arrest of the hotel staff is part of the police’s efforts to investigate the murder, suspected to be ritual-related.

On January 18, 2024, around 9:30 p.m., a suspected ritualist took his victim to the hotel as a guest, beheading her and leaving with her decapitated head.

Confirming the arrests, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the command’s spokesman, stated, “The command has so far apprehended three staff of the hotel and recovered drugs and the handset of the lady.

The drug and handset were recovered at the scene of the crime.”

The investigation has led to the apprehension of two individuals believed to be involved in the gruesome murder.

The victim, identified as Bilkisu Alhaji Idi, was found to be a married woman who recently separated from her husband, Auwal Garba.

Garba confirmed her identity and mentioned their divorce in December 2023.

Despite the irreconcilable differences leading to the divorce, Garba shared that the deceased contacted him on the day she was killed at Happy Day Guest Inn, expressing her desire to talk to her child, who was with his grandmother at the time.
