Man receives 10 year jail term for ATM fraud in Kaduna

Idris Musa has been convicted and sentenced to ten years in prison by Justice A.A Bello of the Kaduna State High Court for engaging in Automated Teller Machine (ATM) fraud.

The conviction follows his guilty plea to a one-count charge of cheating brought against him by the Kaduna Zonal Command of the EFCC.

The charge states that in July 2022, Musa dishonestly induced Idris Ismail by swapping his Zenith Bank ATM card under the pretense of assisting him in withdrawing money.

This fraudulent act is in violation of Section 306(a) of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law, 2017, and is punishable under Section 307 of the same law.

Upon entering a guilty plea, Musa was sentenced by Justice Bello to ten years in prison or a fine of N200,000.00k.

His arrest was related to incidents where he swapped ATM cards of unsuspecting victims, pretending to assist them in operating the payment machines.

During his arrest, 48 ATM cards from different banks were found in his possession.
