Ibadan police arrest fake doctor

A fake doctor, Olarewaju Oludele, has been remanded in Agodi Correctional Centre by an Ibadan Family Court, situated at Iyaganku, over accusations of causing the death of a newborn baby boy.

The 50-year-old Oludele allegedly drowned the infant in a canal.

The magistrate, Mrs. O. O. Ogunkanmi, refrained from taking Oludele’s plea due to jurisdictional limitations and subsequently forwarded the case file to the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecution for legal advice.

The matter is scheduled for mention on March 4, 2024.

Presented before the court by the police on a three-count charge, including impersonation, abduction, and murder, Oludele is accused of committing the offenses on December 28, 2023, at His Mercy Hospital, Akinyele, Ibadan.

The prosecuting counsel, Insp Gbemisola Adedeji, asserted that Oludele, impersonating a qualified doctor, took the newborn without the mother’s consent and drowned him in a canal.

The fake doctor is alleged to have defrauded the mother and others by falsely presenting himself as a qualified medical professional.
