Former Los Angeles-area gang leader Duane “Keffe D” Davis, a suspect in the killing of the late US rapper Tupac Shakur, has been granted a $750,000 bail.
Shakur was fatally shot in a drive-by incident in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996, at the age of 25, following a boxing match at the MGM Grand Hotel.

Keffe D, arrested in September 2023 and charged with murder using a deadly weapon, appeared in a Las Vegas court on Tuesday for a bail hearing pending his criminal trial.
The arrest came after a police raid on his wife’s home in Henderson, looking for items related to Tupac’s murder.
In court, Keffe D’s legal team argued that he posed no danger to society and was not a flight risk if granted bail before the trial.
They maintained his not-guilty plea, claiming his statements about Tupac’s murder were for entertainment and financial gain.

Prosecutors, however, asserted that Davis was a cold-blooded killer who should not be released.
Judge Carli Kierny ultimately agreed to release Keffe D pending trial but set the bail at $750,000.
She specified that even if granted bail, he would be under house arrest with electronic monitoring until the trial.
