During the hearing at Cardiff Crown Court on Wednesday, January 10, Breen pleaded not guilty to charges of misconduct and unauthorized computer access.

The first charge accuses her of willfully and without reasonable excuse or justification, misconducting herself as a prison officer by having a relationship with a prisoner, constituting an abuse of public trust.

The second charge pertains to allegedly accessing a computer without authorization to retrieve data or a program. The reported offenses occurred between February and May 2022.

Breen, who entered not guilty pleas during the brief hearing, spoke solely for this purpose.

The case was adjourned, and the trial is scheduled to take place in November this year, as indicated by Judge Recorder of Cardiff Tracey Lloyd-Clarke.
