Ifelaja, an elder at a parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Ijebu Igbo, located at the headquarters of Ijebu North Local Government in the state, was reportedly taken from his residence on the night of December 31 while preparing for the Crossover service.
The Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, confirmed the incident on Monday, January 8, 2024, assuring that efforts are underway to rescue the victim.

Despite attempts by the kidnappers to mislead authorities about their location, Alamutu stated, “We are on their trail, and very soon, we shall achieve success.”
Sources familiar with the situation disclosed that the abductors have contacted the family, demanding a ransom of N50 million.

The family, reportedly unable to meet this amount, was said to be negotiating for N10 million. The incident was reported at a police station in Ijebu Igbo.
