Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has once again voiced his concerns regarding the escalating debt levels in Nigeria and other African countries.
During an interaction with the 2023 awardees of the Future Africa Leaders Foundation, an initiative by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, Obasanjo emphasized that the mismanagement of previous debts forgiven for Nigeria makes it highly unlikely for any future administration to secure a similar debt relief in the continent.

Highlighting debt as a perilous trap that individuals and nations should avoid, Obasanjo underscored its detrimental impact on any economy.
He identified leadership as the primary challenge facing the continent and expressed his belief that future generations will inevitably bear the burden of the mounting debts being incurred by various countries across Africa.
