After a 7.5 magnitude earthquake that struck Japan’s central Ishikawa prefecture on Monday, approximately 45,700 households are experiencing power outages, as reported by the Hokuriku Electric Power company on Tuesday.

The earthquake has resulted in six casualties in Ishikawa, with dozens of individuals sustaining injuries across four other prefectures, including Toyama and Niigata, according to information from hospitals and local authorities as reported by Japanese public broadcaster NHK.
To aid in rescue and recovery operations, Defense Minister Minoru Kihara announced on Monday that the defense ministry has deployed 1,000 military personnel.
