Los Angeles experienced a 4.1 magnitude earthquake, with the epicenter located just off the coast of Palos Verdes at 8:27 AM PT.
Despite the epicenter’s proximity to Palos Verdes, residents in Hollywood and Pasadena reported feeling the quake.

Southern California has recently faced a series of intense natural events, including significant waves breaching a seawall in Ventura last week, resulting in eight injuries and the evacuation of numerous individuals.
While the extent of damage caused by the New Year’s tremor in Los Angeles remains unclear, it appears less severe compared to the devastating earthquakes that struck Japan on New Year’s Eve.
Japan experienced three powerful successive earthquakes, with the largest registering a magnitude of 7.6.

The aftermath in Japan involved major damage to roads and bridges, and the government promptly issued tsunami warnings. Over 97,000 people were compelled to evacuate, according to Reuters.
