In the Niger state community of Garam, located near the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), bandits have once again carried out a kidnapping, targeting three individuals, including a child.
This occurrence follows closely on the heels of a previous attack by bandits in the village a week earlier, during which they killed a pastor affiliated with the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and abducted 13 others.

Lucky Barnabas, a resident of Garam, confirmed the recent kidnapping incident to the Daily Trust, noting that it occurred at approximately 12:13 am on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.
The bandits, armed with AK-47 rifles and numbering several, fired shots in various directions to instill fear among the community’s residents.
According to Barnabas, the bandits forcibly took away a man, his wife, and a young child residing with them.
He mentioned that the vigilantes were rendered helpless due to the intense gunfire unleashed by the bandits.
Describing the situation as akin to a war, Barnabas expressed the community’s sleepless night and the pervasive fear resulting from the renewed banditry.

While there has been no immediate response from the police command in Niger State regarding the incident, residents reported the arrival of military operatives shortly after the occurrence.
