The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) has issued a cautionary notice to the public, urging restraint in the use of fireworks and other explosive devices during the upcoming New Year celebrations.
The advisory, conveyed through a press statement signed by DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the Police spokesman for the Jigawa State Command, emphasized that comprehensive security measures have been implemented to maintain law and order.

The statement outlined, “The Jigawa State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that security arrangements are put in place to ensure hitch-free festivities across the state.
People in the state are advised to carry out their festivities within the provisions of the law as the Police will not hesitate to clamp down on any person trying to foment trouble.”
It reiterated the existing ban on the use of knockouts, fireworks, bangers, firecrackers, and other explosive devices during celebrations.

Parents were specifically cautioned to counsel their children and wards against engaging in activities involving such devices, especially during the Yuletide season, as they could cause fear and unrest.
