The Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, has passed away, according to a senior government official in the state.

Mr. Akeredolu reportedly died around 2 a.m. on Wednesday at a German hospital where he had been undergoing treatment.

The governor had been battling leukemia and prostate cancer, illnesses that had left him incapacitated for several months.
